IF SOMEONE had told me six months ago that I would be exercising with a Personal Trainer 2-3 times a week and enjoying it, I would have literally laughed out loud. I was the ooberfit client that almost never was - using my insecurities, my excessive weight issue and my general fear of putting it out there to avoid meeting Sam and taking the first important step in my weight loss journey. But I did meet with Sam, and here I am five months later, exercising up to three times a week and revelling in it! I really enjoy working out with Sam, her variation of exercises and personalisation of each session that's designed with my body's capabilities in mind. I still have a long way to go, but already my body is starting to take on a different shape, my fitness levels are increasing and my weight is decreasing... to the tune of 28kg so far. That was my immediate reaction when my wife first suggested that I join a bootcamp, led by ooberfit’s Hafiz Osman. I had never been to any kind of bootcamp/mentored training session before and had always thought that bootcamps were an agonising and intense 60 minutes of cardio work (and let’s be honest, a girl thing!), and I felt hesitant and insecure enough about the idea, let alone doing it with a professional athlete! I’m certainly not the fittest guy and as my 4yr old twin girls get older and more active, I want to be able to keep up with them and their enthusiasm for life and knew I needed to do something extra, and with my wife’s encouragement I finally did……. but bootcamp???
I am now a regular attendee at bootcamp, attending twice a week if work commitments allow, and Hafiz has completely changed my perspective on exercising within a group environment - it's not just all about cardio! Hafiz mixes a precise amount of cardio with strength and toning exercises and I really enjoy this mix, aided by the use of the “toys”, as he calls them - battle ropes, ladders, kettle bells etc. I will say that after my first session, when I walked back into my house and saw my wife, my immediate words were: “Why on earth would anyone want to workout with a personal trainer?!”, but an hour later when I'd stopped feeling shocked and hazy about what had just happened, I started feeling great!! So I stuck with it, and I now kind of like it :-). I’m seeing obvious physical changes in muscle tone from head to toe and without a doubt I’m fitter than I’ve been for years. I haven’t lost a kilo but that says more about my diet habits rather than my exercise habits, however the belt I wear says things are changing for the better! Nick G. BRILLIANT class: Not only is this a great workout specifically tailored to both early and later post-natal mums, but Sam makes it even more fun by varying the exercises and entertaining us with her funny stories. Best of all, you can take your baby along and she'll even babysit if they decide to play up! Since Farrah took over some of the sessions, I have really enjoyed her classes too. She has such drive and energy and passes that on to you through her enthusiasm for the exercises. No two classes are the same as she varies the exercises and now, thanks to ooberfit, I am a lot fitter and have more energy to run around after my toddler. Thank you! SINCE WORKING WITH OOBERFIT OUR FITNESS LEVELS HAVE MASSIVELY INCREASED
MY HUSBAND and I have been doing 1-1 couples training with ooberfit for 10 months now and we both think it is the perfect way for us to stay fit together. FARRAH is an amazing trainer! Her happy personality and never-ending energy make her challenging bootcamp classes really fun! Each class differs from another, but always includes high intensity cardio training as well as endurance and muscle building exercises. WITH 40 fast approaching, I joined OOBERFIT classes sic months ago. It has been the best decision Ive made in terms of my overall well-being. I feel more fit, more active and have started to rediscover muscles that have been dormant for many years. There is variety between the sessiosns to keep them interesting and Sam and Hafiz always keep a close eye on me to make sure I'm constantly pushing myself, safely. I'd highly recommend it for all ages and fitness levels.

FARRAH'S bootcamps are tough, but fun. She has a very pleasant disposition and is not at all mean as a bootcamp instructor! She is able to ccater to the needs of a beginner and that of a seasoned bootcamper with modifications offered throughout. She is always mindful of people who may not be able to do the planned workouts due to injuries or certain conditions and offers alternatives along the way to make sure no one loses out! AFTER my second baby I started working out with a PT at a well-known gym. I didn't realise at the time that I had severe diastasis recti (separation of the abdominal muscles) so the workouts were doing me more harm than good.
A friend recommended I join ooberfit's bootcamp and I immediately felt reassured by Sam's knowledge of my injury and advice on alternative 'safe' exercises. I LOOKED FORWARD TO EVERY CLASS...
I STARTED baby bootcamp (OOBERMINIS) when I was three months post-natal and looked forward to every class! Farrah did a great job of tailoring the exercises to suit different fitness levels, and she always gave us a good work out with options to do a more difficult or less strenuous version of the exercise as was appropriate. 'MY 1-1 SESSIONS HAVE CUT DOWN MY STRESS LEVELS AND WEIGHT AND MY ASTHMA SYMPTOMS HAVE ALL BUT GONE!'
I CHOSE to get a 1-1 trainer mainly as I was quite stressed with work and was not sleeping due to high levels of anxiety and I thought physical exercise would help with these problems, but also would have many other health benefits. Sam has been great and quite different in style to usual PTs who just seem to work you at speed for long periods of time. Sam's style is a lot more researched and varied, aimed at getting the maximum efficiency from the session to ensure you are getting a full body workout and burning a lot of fat long after the session has finished. I always finish the hour with a smile on my face (and drenched in sweat!) and feel the sessions are benefiting me in so many ways. I'm sleeping again, my stress levels are down which both make me a happier person at home and at work and I'm losing weight; but most importantly, the asthma I have had quite badly since I was born has virtually disappeared. Now I almost never require my ventolin generally, but even when I'm huffing and puffing during a session I never feel that my asthma is going to flare up or am concerned I should slow down.
I highly recommend working with Sam and I intend to continue working with her for a long time to come, as the health benefits, being a happier person generally and the ability to deal with work stress a lot better are worth the effort a hundred times over. After just a few sessions, I noticed a difference - I was feeling much fitter and was able to play a full 90 minutes football, without having to spend the following two days recovering! I DO bootcamp twice a week and there are many reasons that motivate me to work out at 8am! 'I JOINED FOR A BET AND THEN IN 8 weeks DROPPED 12kg!'
I WAS a reluctant attendee at bootcamp having only agreed to attend as a result of a bet for charity. The bet was to see whether I could attend (and fully participate in) 3 sessions of bootcamp per week for six weeks. If you saw me you are more likely to think 'fat' than 'fit', so the whole idea of 18hours of bootcamp was very unappealing.
When I started, the first pleasant surprise was the fact that there is a significant range of ages and abilities at the session.This meant that I did not feel as out of place as I anticipated that I would before I turned up. I was made very welcome, not only by Sam but also by my fellow bootcampers. I decided to share my story with them - they all found it hilarious but were very encouraging. For me 'bootcamp' conjures up an image of an army major with his boot on your back, screaming in your ear and punishing you to within an inch of your life.
My second pleasant surprise then was that Sam's bootcamp is nothing like that. She has the measure of all who attend. Insofar as my attendance went, she very quickly adapted the exercises that she wanted me to do to reflect my ability and, more importantly, she revisited and refined the exercises regularly as I became more able. She does this with everyone. My final surprise then was that I actually found myself enjoying the sessions. Sam had to travel during the middle of the sessions so the six week period actually stretched out to eight weeks. I was trying to lose some weight at the same time and across the eight week period I trimmed down an incredible 12kg.
In the end I had a surprise for Sam - I had enjoyed the sessions so much that I signed up for more at the end of the 'bootcamp bet' period. No one who knows me would have forecast that at the outset. Tony C. West Coast Bootcamper, November 2013.

'GREAT 1-1 RESULTS!'
I'VE always been sceptical about having a Personal Trainer: why pay to exercise? I took the plunge and the answer to my initial reluctance was RESULTS! In eight weeks I've managed to run 5km, sign up for my first race, loose weight and change my body shape! I know this would not have happened without ooberfit, I've tried numerous times before to get in shape. I work full-time and having Sam coming at a specific date and time has given me the motivation to literally get me off the sofa. Everything is explained to me, why I'm doing what exercises and how much I need to do. Sam fully adapts to my needs and moods and gets the results. I never thought I would join a bootcamp as it would be too intimidating with super fit people showing off and a trainer too full of themself. Sam has shown me that it doesn't have to be like that and has built the program around me and my fitness level. LOVE working out amongst the trees and sunshine in The Botanic Gardens. The workouts are tailored to meet and enhance the participants various fitness levels, in a relaxed and fun environment. Fun doesn't mean it's easy though. I have noticed a pleasing change in body shape and fitness levels since joining ooberfit three months ago. I need new sports gear! I REALLY enjoy the camaraderie of working out in a group - especially as at different levels of fitness we can all work out together but at our own pace and bond over the mutual hatred for the trainer!! Just joking... Sam is great fun and constantly encouraging and we feel more kindly towards her once the class has finished! It's easy to stay motivated when you are regularly meeting, and with interesting and varied workouts I have definitely noticed an improvement in my overall fitness and strength - which is my goal.
